MS Program Admissions Criteria

We take a holistic approach to admissions and encourage candidates from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to apply. Successful applicants typically demonstrate strength in the following areas:

Academic Preparation

  • A strong academic record, typically reflected in a competitive GPA
  • Foundational knowledge in economics or related fields
  • Completion of required application materials and credentials
  • Evidence of quantitative and analytical ability
  • Preparation in mathematics and/or statistics through coursework or testing
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in rigorous, quantitative coursework

Communication Skills

  • Proficiency in English consistent with institutional standards
  • Clear, well-structured written communication
  • Ability to articulate ideas effectively in written materials and, when applicable, interviews

Research & Analytical Experience

  • Engagement with research, either through coursework or independent work
  • Experience applying analytical thinking to academic or professional projects
  • Opportunity to showcase research or project-based work, if available

Standardized Testing 

  • GRE scores are required 


Other Requirements

  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong GPA, leadership, and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous experience programming in SAS, Stata, or R is preferred but not required; extensive training in these statistical programs is offered.

International Students

  • All international students who have not pursued a degree at an institution that teaches in English must submit TOEFL/IELTS scores.
  • Transcripts not in English or not on a 4.0 scale must be translated by World Education Service (WES) or Education Credential Evaluators (ECE).
