Mailman IT Online Training Resources

Between University offerings and free materials provided by software vendors themselves, there is no shortage of help if you are struggling with a particular application. Below please find overviews, training links, etc. to some of the most commonly used software at CUIMC.

One-Stop-Shop
- LinkedIn Learning: The University HR team provides all employees and students with free access via your uni login. Here you’ll find video tutorials on a wealth of software including Office (Word, Sharepoint, Teams, OneDrive, Excel, Visio, etc.), Adobe, R, Drupal, Python, Stata, SAS – you name it, you’ll find it.
Basic Productivity
- MS Office 365 Training Portal offers extensive free training in the Office suite of products with something for beginners, and experts.
- Adobe Support: Acrobat, Acrobat Pro, Contribute, Fireworks… it’s all here.
- GSuite by Google provides tutorials for Sheets, Drive, Gmail, and all else Google.
Email
- MailChimp 101: Mailman Communication manages a central instance of MailChimp, a popular email marketing tool. To learn more, reach out to Communications at mailmancomm@cumc.columbia.edu.
- MS Outlook for PC & Mac
- Apple Mail
Cloud Infrastructure
- Microsoft Learn: Online and in-person courses focused on Azure, the enterprise MS cloud service.
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) Learning Library
- Google Cloud Computing (HPC)
Specialized
- Collaboration: Avoiding Collaboration Confusion Presentation.
- Arc GIS, Learning Paths: Mailman IT provides free access to its site license for Arc GIS Online mapping and analysis software. To learn more, email msph-tickets@cumc.columbia.edu
- R: The R project for statistical software is a nonprofit, so its sponsored tutorials are not as impressive as some. However, it has a vibrant user community who author developer pages and an active blog.
- SAS: SAS Learn has free video tutorials and online documentation for this popular data analytics software.
- RedCap: Online survey and database software. RedCap provides some video tutorials online for free.
- Qualtrics: The University offers discounted licenses to the Qualtrics survey platform with full support. You can find out more by emailing: qualtrics@columbia.edu As far as training resources go, there are Qualtrics certifications available from the vendor, but they are not free. If you want basic training, your best bet is to leverage L inkedIn Learning.
