SHARP Program Main Location
The Skills for Health and Research Professionals (SHARP) Training Program is headquartered at the Mailman School of Public Health in the Allan Rosenfield Building on the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) campus on 168th Street in New York City.
Training Formats
SHARP trainings are offered in-person, livestream virtual, or hybrid. Each training is different and specific location details can be found on each respective training page. All trainings, regardless of location, are live - our trainings are not self-paced, pre-recorded courses.
- In-person trainings, unless otherwise noted, occur on the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) campus, located approximately 10-15 minutes by subway north of Columbia University's main Morningside campus.
- Virtual, livestream trainings occur on Zoom over live, online video.
- Hybrid trainings, unless otherwise noted, occur in-person on the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) campus and via Zoom over live, online video. Choose the option that is right for you!

Transportation and Lodging
If you’re traveling to New York City for our trainings, we recommend viewing Columbia’s Visitors and Personal Travel Portal. The portal features additional information about airports, hotels, and local transit.
- Airports: Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK airports are accessible to NYC, but LaGuardia is the most convenient. See our Airport Map for travel times from all three airports to the CUIMC campus via driving and public transportation.
- Subways: The 1, A, and C subway trains are convenient to the CUIMC campus. If you’re not staying within walking distance of the campus, we recommend booking lodging that’s convenient to one of these train lines.
- NYC Hotels: Columbia-affiliated hotel discounts are available for SHARP attendees.
- View a list of hotels with Columbia-affiliated discounts and their amenities by clicking the NYC Hotels button on Columbia’s Visitors and Personal Travel Portal.
- Book a hotel online with Columbia’s discounted rates by creating an account with Columbia’s Visitors and Personal Travel Portal. The rates negotiated by the university can be obtained only by booking through the portal.
- The Edge Hotel (5-minute walk) offers discounted rates through Columbia’s Visitors and Personal Travel Portal. For our attendees' convenience, you can also receive the Columbia discount at The Edge Hotel by calling the hotel directly at 212-543-0005.
- The Radio Hotel (20-minute, one-mile walk) offers discounted rates through Columbia’s Visitors and Personal Travel Portal.

Lactation/Mother's Room at the Mailman School of Public Health
The Allan Rosenfield Building has a lactation room on the main floor, offering a clean, secure, and private space to express breast milk. The room is swipe-card protected and is equipped with chairs, a refrigerator, and a lock on the inside. To access the Lactation Room, please contact us 1-2 weeks before your arrival via the email related to the training you are attending (located on the specific training page under Additional Information).
