Practicum Students
Every year, sidHARTe hosts Columbia University MPH, MD, and DrPH students and Global Emergency Medicine Fellows during their summer practica. Students are provided the opportunity to connect with and learn from experts in the field while gaining practical experience applying their public health research and clinical skills. Students work on sidHARTe’s current projects both globally and in New York City. Practica topics and experiences have included development of quality of care tools for health management teams; emergency referral and dispatch protocol development; simulation design for emergency obstetric and newborn care (EmONC); national needs assessments in emergency care systems; cascading capacity building; development of quantitative and qualitative implementation research tools to measure health system readiness and community experiences; as well as analysis of local and national level data.
