Getting Started for Students

We've compiled information on frequently used resources to help students get the most out of available technologies, please use links in the left column of this page for assistance with specific topics. New students can visit the Getting Startedpage for step by step instructions on preparations to make before arriving on campus.
The CUMC IT Service Desk
The CUMC IT Service Desk is the main technical support help desk for faculty, staff and students at the Columbia University Medical Center campus. We are located on the 2nd floor of the Hammer Building and provide free first level troubleshooting for accounts, programs and systems at CUMC.
Computer Labs and Classrooms
CUMC IT and the Service Desk manage computing areas, including labs, classrooms, and clusters at the CUMC campus. The primary locations are the 2nd floor of the Hammer Building and the 1st floor of the Health Sciences Library.
The computers are:
- Available on a first come, first served basis
- All connected to CUMC's high speed network and able to access the Internet
- All connected to nearby laser jet printers via the printing system
- Updated with current antivirus and antispyware programs.
Printing
Medical Center students have access to Printing Services. They receive unlimited printing for black and white and 200 pages for color printing per semester. The CUMC IT Service Desk's primary service location is on the 2nd floor of the Hammer Building.
