Delta Omega Honor Society
Delta Omega Induction Ceremony: Monday, May 13, 2024
The Mailman School of Public Health established the Delta Pi chapter of Delta Omega Honor Society as a result of student interest. The Delta Pi Chapter of Delta Omega was founded in 2018 and has since sustained one induction a year in the Spring term. As the Mailman School marks its Centennial year, we hope to expand the chapter activities of Delta Pi and revise the structure in which chapter induction and other activities occur.
Delta Omega Honorary Society was established in 1924 to recognize outstanding achievement in the field of public health. Today, there are hundreds of chapters across the globe and Delta Omega Honor Society headquarters encourages individual chapters to determine who is eligible as members and how to establish chapter activities that build community within Schools of Public Health. In addition, there is an annual meeting of all Chapters during the annual APHA (American Public Health Association) Conference and organization-wide events like a Day of Service during National Public Health Week, faculty awards for Innovative Curriculum, and an annual poster competition. We hope to include these events to Mailman's chapter very soon.
Students who meet the eligibility criteria (based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership, and service participation) may be nominated by their academic departments. Nominees will be invited to apply for consideration. In addition to graduating students, Alumni and Honorary membership is also considered.
