Columbia ID

Your Columbia University ID is your “passport to Columbia”. It grants access to libraries and secure campus locations, allows you to purchase services at campus cafés and the University bookstore, and lets you to take advantage of discount programs in New York City.

Incoming students are able to submit their ID photos online and receive their IDs upon arrival to campus. Submitted photos must be a JPEG and will be reviewed by the Columbia ID Office. Students will subsequently be notified by email if their photo has been approved or if they should submit a different photo. Visit the Department of Public Safety ID Center website to view the due date for the coming semester. The ID Center collects photos one semester at a time, it is possible the coming semester due date is not posted yet. Please check often for the appropriate due date.

Students who do not submit a photo will need to visit the CUIMC ID Office to have their pictures taken in person.
