Our Work

The Mailman School was founded on the belief that health is a human right and the foundation for a successful society. As a leader in the scientific discovery of health and health education, the Mailman School will focus its 21st century efforts on prevention science and its application to creating better systems that effectively prevent disease and disability for all populations and for all ages. The School seeks to build its capabilities into large-scale resources for its city, nation, and world so that more people can live long lives with good health, engage fully in society, work, and family, and unleash their full potential. 

While continuing and building on work in these established areas of strength, the School seeks to put special emphasis on raising support for five specific areas with both global and local importance in which public health science has been underinvested and underdeveloped:
