SocialsVoice

SocialsVoice is a participatory research method that brings community-engaged research into the current digital and social media era. It was developed to move beyond existing social media research approaches by centering participants’ perspectives and online lived experiences. Building on Photovoice, an established participatory method that has helped people document and discuss their lived experiences through images, SocialsVoice invites participants to share social media posts, images, videos, or other content that reflect relevant issues and experiences in their lives. Participants then discuss this content in guided group sessions and take part in research activities such as surveys and collaborative reflection. Through this mixed-methods approach, SocialsVoice offers a more comprehensive way to study a wide range of topics through the lens of participants’ social media and lived experiences.
