Resources and Infrastructure
TRAIL4Health is building the data resources and infrastructure needed to power the future of AI in health. By connecting clinical data, research cohorts, imaging, biomarkers, and other multimodal data sources, we aim to support earlier detection, a deeper understanding of disease, and more effective strategies for prevention and care.
A flagship effort in this area is the Columbia Brain Health Data Bank (CBDB), a joint initiative of TRAIL4Health and the Columbia Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. CBDB brings together large-scale longitudinal clinical data and deeply characterized research data to advance the study of brain aging and dementia. Its clinical cohort includes approximately 150,000 patients with more than 35 years of follow-up, over 8 million clinical visits, 4.6 million clinical notes, and a richly assessed subgroup of more than 14,000 patients seen in aging and dementia clinics. CBDB is also linked to research participants with detailed cognitive, biomarker, and neuroimaging data, creating a unique platform for translational brain health research.
With growing imaging linkage in collaboration with Flywheel and AWS, secure cloud-based infrastructure, and support for multimodal integration, CBDB provides a strong foundation for research that connects biology, clinical care, and long-term outcomes across the life course.
