Tableau for Data Visualization (2020)
The Lerner Center hosted a two-day workshop on January 15 and 16, 2020 for faculty, staff, and students to learn Tableau - a data analytics software used to create visual representations such as charts, maps, graphs, and plots. Tableau allows you to:
-
Track data in real time
-
Edit and analyze data
-
Connect to many different data sources
-
Create charts, maps, graphs and other visualizations of data
-
Manipulate data dashboards showing multiple metrics
-
Share customizable data dashboards that stakeholders or partners can edit
The workshop was led by NYC Career Center instructor Faycal Bouguir - a multimedia designer and data visualization specialist with over ten years of teaching experience. Attendees used Tableau Public to practice creating data visualizations from existing data. Tableau Public is a free platform that allows you to easily make stunning data visualizations and share them with the Tableau community. It is great for journalists, writers, bloggers and anyone interested in sharing research findings as digestible and attractive data visualizations. Tableau Public allows you to easily embed your visualizations on a personal website, social media, blog, etc.
We are thrilled that 100% of the attendees rated the workshop as excellent and 100% would recommend it to others! Faycal has kindly provided the Lerner Center with additional Tableau and data visualization resources. We hope you find these valuable in developing your data visualization skills!
Thank you to everyone who attended this event!
