About
The R.I.S.E. (Resilience, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Empowerment) Peer Mentor Program is a peer mentorship initiative for master's students at the Mailman School of Public Health, offered through the Office of Inclusive Excellence. The program is designed to support first-year master's students as they transition to graduate school by fostering connection, community, and personal and professional growth.
Incoming students are matched with second-year student mentors through a comprehensive application process that considers shared experiences, interests, and goals. Mentors provide guidance, encouragement, and support as mentees navigate academic, professional, and campus life at the Mailman School.
Beyond one-on-one mentoring, the R.I.S.E. Program offers monthly professional development workshops, leadership opportunities, and community-building events that help students develop meaningful relationships and engage with resources across the School and University.
Grounded in the values of Resilience, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Empowerment, the program creates opportunities for mentors and mentees to learn from one another, build leadership skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging. Our goal is to cultivate a supportive network of graduate students who inspire, encourage, and empower one another throughout their time at the Mailman School and beyond.
Questions about the program can be directed to Diamond Jackson, Director of Inclusive Initiatives, Office of Inclusive Excellence.
