Overview
Larry Bartlett is a health economist with 40+ years of experience in conducting health services research, program evaluations, and economic/policy analysis and in providing technical assistance to Federal, State, and local governments and private sector clients on health care-related matters.
He currently is an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, where he teaches courses on health economics, health care market consolidation and dynamics, and payment methods. Before coming to Columbia, he taught courses on health care economics and finance at the George Washington University's School of Public Health. From 1980 to 2007, he was the president of Health Systems Research, Inc. (HSR), a Washington, DC-based health policy, research and consulting firm. In this position, he directed or oversaw hundreds of studies and technical assistance assignments on a broad range of health and social service-related issues.
Dr. Bartlett holds a doctorate in economics and masters degrees in both health services administration and applied economics.

Research
Global Health Activities
Dr. Bartlett has conducted project management, design and evaluation activities and financial/economic analyses of health care projects in a dozen countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia. The organizations funding this work included USAID, the African Development Bank, the US Peace Corps, and the Aga Khan Foundation.
