Overview

Arthur Gianelli is the President and Chief Transformation Officer of One Brooklyn Health (“OBH”). He was appointed to this position in May of 2025.

OBH is a comprehensive healthcare system established to address the healthcare needs of Brooklyn, New York, residents. With over 7,000 employees, 1,200 physicians, and a budget of over $1B, OBH consists of two hospitals, two nursing homes, and numerous outpatient practice locations. Mr. Gianelli’s responsibilities in this role include overseeing, integrating, and optimizing OBH’s operations; empowering employees to engage in process improvement efforts to make OBH safer and more effective, efficient, and accessible to its patients; and developing an operating model for OBH which will allow for sustained and enduring clinical, operational, and financial success in the context of New York State’s strategic transition to Value-Based Payments and Global Budgets.

From 2014 through 2025, Mr. Gianelli held leadership positions in the Mount Sinai Health System, an internationally recognized health care system in New York City that includes 8 hospitals, more than 400 ambulatory practices, and a medical school. He served as Chief Transformation Officer for the Mount Sinai Health System from 2019 through 2025, and he was the President of Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital from 2014 through 2023.

As Chief Transformation Officer for the Mount Sinai Health System, Mr. Gianelli helped lead hospital improvement engagements in the Caribbean on behalf of Mount Sinai International. Additionally, Mr. Gianelli helped to drive patient experience improvement initiatives across the Mount Sinai Health System; worked with System leaders to improve selected clinical programs and operations; enhanced strategic partnerships with community-based and public sector organizations; and increased access to organizational learning for Mount Sinai leaders and staff.

As President of Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, Mr. Gianelli introduced a lean daily management system; drove improvements in patient experience, quality, and safety measures; shepherded a transformative capital improvement plan; and worked with School of Medicine leadership to grow clinical programs. Under Mr. Gianelli’s direction, Mount Sinai Morningside earned a third-place designation in Healthcare Innovations’ Innovator Award Program for the use of its command center during the COVID-19 pandemic; was recognized in the top 30 among the World’s Best Smart Hospitals by Newsweek Magazine; achieved HIMSS 7 status; and saw its Cardiology and Adult Cardiac Surgery programs rise to a ranking of 16th in the United States as determined by U.S. News and World Report.

From 2006 through 2014, Mr. Gianelli served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Nassau Health Care Corporation. Under Mr. Gianelli's leadership, NHCC earned recognition for stabilizing its finances, improving quality of care and patient outcomes, and modernizing and expanding its services and facilities.

Prior to joining NHCC, Mr. Gianelli held senior executive positions over a 10-year period for two local governments on Long Island. He was Deputy County Executive for Budget and Finance for Nassau County and Director of Operations for the Town of North Hempstead. He was responsible for leading fiscal turnarounds in both municipalities.

Mr. Gianelli has served on the Executive Committees of Healthfirst and America’s Essential Hospitals. He has also served on the Boards of Directors of Health Leads, HealthIx, the Greater New York Hospital Association, Healthcare Leaders of New York (HLNY), Regional Policy Board 2 of the American Hospital Association, and the Mount Sinai Health Partners IPA. Mr. Gianelli has recently been elected to serve as a Regent for Metropolitan New York for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), and he has established and funded an annual “Early Careerist ACHE Congress Scholarship”. He has earned numerous professional, civic, and teaching awards, including HLNY’s 2021 Award of Distinction, which is given in recognition of sustained and outstanding contributions to the advancement of healthcare administration as a profession. Mr. Gianelli has been recognized by Becker’s Healthcare as one of the nation’s most prominent Chief Transformation Officers, and he was acknowledged by Crain’s New York Business as a “Notable Health Care Leader.”

Mr. Gianelli earned a Bachelor’s Degree in History from St. John's University, a Master of Arts Degree in Political Science from Brown University, a Master in Business Administration Degree from Dowling College, and a Master in Public Health Degree from Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Mr. Gianelli teaches “Issues in Hospital Management”, “Strategy”, “Consulting Practice”, and “Managed Care and Population Health” to graduate students at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
