Overview
Sasha Berns, MPH teaches in the Executive Program of the Department of Health Policy and Management at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Sasha has served in the Environmental Health and Safety Department at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (NYP) since 2018, where she currently serves as a Manager of three hospitals: NYP-Columbia University Irving Medical Center, NYP-Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, and NYP-Allen Hospital. She manages all aspects of environmental health and safety including hazardous and other regulated waste streams, chemical spill response, OSHA regulatory compliance, environment of care and life safety code, training, and fire safety. Previously, Sasha served as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Delaware’s Biden School of Public Policy where she taught an introductory environmental health course.
Sasha received her Bachelor of Science degree, graduating with high honors, from the University of Michigan and holds a Master of Public Health degree from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. Sasha is currently a doctoral candidate at Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health in the Environmental Health Sciences Department where her research focuses on injury reporting and reduction programs at healthcare institutions.
