Overview

Christian De Vos is a human rights scholar and practitioner specializing in international human rights law and international criminal law, including the nexus between attacks on health and international humanitarian law, evidence and fact-finding, and domestic human rights implementation. He previously served as Research and Investigations Director at Physicians for Human Rights (PHR), where he oversaw the organization’s global research portfolio and rapid response initiatives. His work included convening a coalition documenting attacks on health in Ukraine, investigating the impact of post-Roe abortion bans on health care providers in the United States, and overseeing complex medical reviews of preventable deaths in U.S. immigration custody. Earlier, he spent more than a decade with the Open Society Justice Initiative, where he held progressively senior roles advancing human rights through legal advocacy, research, and strategic litigation. He began his legal career clerking with the Office of Legal Affairs at the U.S. Courts of Appeals and is a member of the New York Bar.
