Spatial Epidemiology Lab
Principal Investigator
The Spatial Epidemiology Lab employs a geospatial lens to study health behaviors and outcomes, with a focus on gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men, transgender and gender diverse people, and people of color.
The lab conducts diverse research studies that employ innovative methods of data collection and analysis, including geospatial modeling, global positioning systems and sleep actigraphs. By studying specific neighborhood characteristics, the lab’s research aims to inform, develop, and evaluate individual, sociocultural and structural interventions aimed at reducing health disparities by improving individual and public health.
The lab includes research assistants and research interns who are undergraduate students, graduate students, and medical students, in addition to postdoctoral fellows, research coordinators, research affiliates, data analysts and geospatial analysts. Research assistants and other lab members have been co-authors on published manuscripts and have been awarded grants. We work collaboratively with communities and colleagues in New York City and from around the world.
