C-ARCH (Center for Achieving Resilience in Climate and Health) is hosting a lunch event for MSPH students and postdocs. This event will be an opportunity for you to learn more about C-ARCH as well as for us to hear from you on what you would like to see from a center on climate and health. Additionally, we have invited Dr. Robbie Parks, Assistant Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, to share his experience at COP30 in Brazil.
The Mailman School of Public Health launched C-ARCH earlier this year as a global solutions lab for responding to and mitigating the manifold detrimental health impacts of climate change while building adaptive capacity. C-ARCH is co-led by Dr. Kiros Berhane, the Cynthia and Robert Citrone-Roslyn and Leslie Goldstein Professor and Chair of Biostatistics and a leader in developing new scientific methods in environmental health research, and Dr. Darby Jack, Professor of Environmental Health Sciences, who has studied the health effects of air pollution and policies to accelerate clean household energy transitions in New York City, Ghana, and elsewhere around the world.
This year, C-ARCH has rolled out a series of core activities, including a seminar series and monthly convenings of faculty to foster collaboration across Columbia Mailman, the NIH-funded CHART (Charting solutions for health impacts of extreme weather) Center, Global Center for Climate and Health Education (GCCEH), the Columbia Climate School, and beyond.
Please contact Haruka Morita (hm2487@cumc.columbia.edu) to RSVP.
