Allison Aiello to Receive Columbia's aiX Faculty Fellowship

CAC director Allison Aiello will receive the 2026 aiX Faculty Fellowship in light of the caliber of her scholarship at the intersection of AI and Higher Education. The aiX Faculty Leadership Fellows program includes an interdisciplinary Bootcamp on AI literacy and Curricular Reform at Columbia University.

The fellowship is timely since Dr. Aiello will be launching a new course, "Generative AI for Epidemiologists" in January 2026 in the Department of Epidemiology. Recognizing that generative AI can now create novel data outputs by leveraging the patterns, styles, or information it has learned during its training process, this revolution can now be applied to enhance epidemiological research. The course will explore AI within the field of public health as well as the ethical challenges that opaque models present.
