The forces shaping human health do not respect borders, budgets, or political cycles. Understanding them requires going deeper than the headlines — and further than any single discipline or sector. PopTalks is a global health podcast hosted by Dr. Thoai Ngo, Chair of the Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. In each episode, Dr. Ngo sits down with leading scientists, policymakers, innovators, and community leaders  to examine the forces transforming population health and human well-being — from climate change and AI to demographic shifts, gender equity, global conflict, and more. These conversations are shaping our world, and now you're in the room. Coming in September to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.

About the Host

Mr Thoai

“Some of the best conversations I’ve ever had happened in a room with a small group of people—and left me thinking differently or inspired me to act. I wanted more people to be part of that. Each episode, I'll be talking with someone whose work is changing how we understand the world, and what it means to build a healthier, more equitable one.”

Dr. Thoại Ngô is the Harriet and Robert H. Heilbrunn Professor and Chair of the Department of Population and Family Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. An epidemiologist and population scientist by training, he has spent his career working at the intersection of global health, gender equity, climate, and demographic change. His work has brought him into conversation with scientists, policymakers, innovators, and community leaders working at the frontlines of some of the most consequential issues of our time. On PopTalks, he brings those conversations to a wider audience, exploring what the evidence actually shows, what it means for people and communities, and the bold ideas offering real reasons for hope. Connect with Dr. Ngo on Instagram and LinkedIn
