Racial Justice and Equity

In Fall 2020, HPM created a new committee to identify and increase awareness of departmental issues related to racial justice and equity composed of students, faculty, and staff in order to promote departmental inclusivity and social cohesion. The Racial Justice & Equity (RJE) Committee supports HPM by identifying, analyzing, and implementing changes, focusing on internal and external systems that contribute to these inequities. 

In Spring 2021, the RJE Committee presented a series of recommendations to HPM administration concerning class offerings, course evaluations, faculty recruitment and retention, and departmental culture. Over the 2021-2022 academic year, the RJE Committee will be evaluating the progress of these recommendations and outlining activities and initiatives to be continued in the coming years.
