Research Strategy and Innovation

Columbia Mailman’s Office of Research Strategy and Innovation advances the growth, development, and implementation of the School’s groundbreaking research agenda. The team provides strategic vision and guidance for faculty research efforts, whether they are department-level, or cross-disciplinary across the School; nurtures strategic collaborations; and cultivates an interdisciplinary research culture to address the most pressing current and emerging public health challenges.

The Research Strategy and Innovation team includes the office of Research Resources (R2), Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), and a partnership with Columbia Technology Ventures’ Industry Relations Group. Together the team provides research and sponsored projects reporting, analyses and strategic decision support; leads industry partnerships and licensing; offers training, services, and processes to help researchers maintain research integrity and compliance; and provides research administration support to help researchers as they pursue, develop, and conduct research initiatives. The team partners with researchers and centers across the School, Columbia University Irving Medical Center and Columbia University, including the Columbia Climate School and the Data Science Institute, to catalyze critical research efforts within and across traditional disciplinary boundaries.
