The Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Program is responsible for identifying and cleaning up hazardous waste sites, responding to environmental emergencies, both man-made and naturally occuring, and protecting public health and the environment.
Since its inception in 1987, NIEHS Hazardous Substance Basic Research and Training Program (Superfund Research Program [SRP]) has applied a multidisciplinary approach to research focused on providing a solid foundation that environmental managers and risk assessors can draw upon to make sound decisions related to Superfund and other hazardous wastes sites.
