Global climate change is underway and accelerating, posing serious threats to human health and substantial risks to economic stability. In this seminar, Dr. Limaye draws attention to the physical and mental health-related costs of climate change, which are often neglected when international and national economic risks of the climate crisis are assessed. Analyses from 10 climate-sensitive case studies that occurred in 11 U.S. states during 2012 report high health-related costs of climate-sensitive events and highlight the need to mitigate climate change and adapt to its unavoidable impacts.
