At COP27 the "Sharm El Sheikh Adaptation Solutions" were launched and included description of an effort between the UN High Level Champions and the global network COP2 to develop a path for emotional resilience to be part of its Race to Resilience effort to scale climate adaptation projects to impact 4 billion people by 2030. The Billion Minds Project, which is coordinating this effort, is the work of Mailman School of Public Health and SMS Faculty member Gary Belkin. Gary will describe the science and aims underlying this effort, and its potential impact not only the field of global mental health, but on the practice and politics around climate adaptation more broadly. It should encourage Columbia as an institution to dive into "climate change and mental health" in new and transformative ways.
