The Global Health Certificate Program and the Global Health Initiative (GHI) of the Mailman School of Public Health invite you to The Global Health Practicum Showcase on Thursday, February 27th 2014 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm in the Riverview Lounge on the 4th floor of Hammer Health Sciences. Global Health Certificate students will present posters of their six months¹ practicum experiences abroad. Light refreshments will be served.
Launched in 2005, the Global Health Program (originally a track, now a Certificate) is an interdepartmental professional training program designed to prepare students interested in becoming global health practitioners. This unique program¹s interdisciplinary approach provides students with the skills to apply a global framework for analysis and action in a selected field of public health. An integral part of the Global Health Certificate experience is the overseas practicum, a continuous six-month experience that begins during the summer after the first year in residence at the School and ending after the fall semester of the second year. Since its inception, the Global Health program has graduated over 125 students and has close to 100 current students, some of whom will be the first to receive a Global Health Certificate from the Mailman School.
Global Health students have carried out practicum projects with organizations in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, and at the U.S.-Mexico border.
