Dan Liao, PhD

Dan Liao is a senior research statistician in the Division for Statistical and Data Sciences at RTI International and an adjunct faulty at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. She has worked in survey research and official statistics nationally and internationally for over 10 years. She currently works on multiple aspects of data processing and analysis for large, multistage surveys of health care, including sampling design, calibration weighting, data editing and imputation, statistical disclosure control, and the analysis of survey data. She also works on addressing challenging issues in data quality for administrate data of crime in the United States. She published research on regression diagnostics for complex survey data, calibration weighting for unit nonresponse, data imputation, combining data from multiple sources, Bayesian mixture modeling, and predictive modeling. Dr. Liao's statistical training in survey design and analysis is complemented with training on data collection techniques, issues related to data collection mode bias, nonresponse bias, experimental design, and questionnaire design.
