The Keynote Address: In 2023, the Governor of New York took a significant step forward by establishing a gubernatorial advisory body aimed at ensuring high-quality, equitable healthcare access for all New Yorkers. Introducing: The Commission on the Future of Health Care. Under the leadership of Dr. Sherry Glied as its Chair, this commission brings together 13 prominent practitioners and policy makers to offer annual strategic guidance to the Governor on areas such as policy, regulation, and transformative strategies within the healthcare system. Considering evolving patient preferences, new technologies, and innovative financing, Dr. Glied will deliver forward-looking insights on the Commission and predictions for health care in New York (and beyond).

The Morning Panel,Communicating Topics in Public Health Effectively, will cover the importance of bridging the gap between scientific information and public understanding. In this session, we will delve into the nuances of public health communication, sharing expertise on conveying complex health topics to diverse audiences with clarity and impact, and providing valuable strategies for effective messaging in public health.

The Afternoon Fireside Chat, Exploring Food Access, Justice, Policy, and Equity, will engage in an impactful discussion on food justice, nutrition insecurity, and the urgent public health and social justice concerns they unveil. The conversation will explore the profound connections between what we eat and the equitable society we aspire to build as we uncover the stark realities of food inequality and empower others to contribute to a solution-driven approach. This session will delve into how policy, the private sector, and the public sector can all work together to address food insecurity and food deserts.

The Afternoon Roundtable Discussion, PEPFAR Reauthorization is Stalled: What now?, will address the status of PEPFAR’s reauthorization, implications of its pause, and future predictions and contingencies global health actors should consider. Although the program has been reauthorized across ten U.S. congresses and four presidential administrations, its reauthorization is stalled in Congress today. Participants joining this roundtable discussion are encouraged to participate in the dialogue, ask questions, and share valuable perspectives while learning from Dr. Michaels-Strasser's industry expertise.
